This policy covers SecretaryOfStateSearch.org. The site is run by SecretaryOfStateSearch.org, a private independent guide that is not affiliated with any government office. To reach us about privacy, use the contact form.
What we collect
When you send a form. Your name, email address, phone number if you give one, the state, the service you chose, whether the owners live in the US, the company name and the message you write. We also record the page you sent it from and the time.
When you read the site. A small script records visits: the page you landed on, the page that sent you, campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source), and a rough country taken from the network. We count visits to see which pages help people. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies, to measure visits and form use, with ad personalisation switched off. Ad click identifiers are only kept when your browser allows ad measurement.
We do not ask for passwords, payment card numbers or government ID numbers, and you should never send them through our forms.
Why we use it
- To answer your request and, if you go ahead, to provide the service you asked for.
- To keep a record of requests and their outcome.
- To understand which pages are useful and fix what is not.
- To block spam and abuse of the forms.
Who sees it
Our team reads form requests in our own system and by email. Our hosting and email providers process data on our behalf. If you ask for a filing and accept our quote, we share with the state only what its form requires, and with a filing partner only what the job needs, after you agree. We do not sell or rent personal data.
How long we keep it
Form requests are kept for as long as we need them to answer you and keep business records, then deleted. Visit records are kept in summary form.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, through the contact form. You can block cookies in your browser; the guide still works.
Children
The site is meant for adults running or forming a business. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
