New Mexico's business register is kept by the Secretary of State's Business Services Division at 325 Don Gaspar in Santa Fe. It forms LLCs and corporations, records changes, handles name reservations and issues certificates. All of it runs through the Enterprise business portal.

The big difference in New Mexico is that paper is gone. The office has stopped taking paper filings for any business application, so you will need an online account even for a simple change. Plan for that if you usually mail forms.

Searching New Mexico business records

The Enterprise portal search is the public lookup for New Mexico companies. Enter the entity name or its Business ID. If you need a narrower search, open the Advanced dropdown on the same page.

New Mexico filing fees

Filing fees show inside the portal form for each filing, and the state's fee rules sit in NMSA 53-2-1 to 53-2-11. We are holding back the LLC and corporation amounts until they are checked again on an official page, so read the fee on the portal before you pay.

Reports for New Mexico companies

For-profit corporations, both domestic and foreign, file a biennial report with the Secretary of State. The office's guidance on whether LLCs have a report has not been confirmed on an official page, so we do not say either way here.

How a New Mexico filing is reviewed

After you submit an application, staff review it and approve it, reject it or send it back for correction. You hear the result by email. If your filing comes back for correction, you have 90 days to fix it and send it again in the portal.

Keep an eye on the email account linked to your portal login. A correction request that sits unread can run out the 90 days.
