Oklahoma is one of the states where the Secretary of State is not the UCC office. The filing office is the Oklahoma County Clerk, in Oklahoma City, and it serves the whole state. A lender in Tulsa or Lawton files in the same place as one in Oklahoma City.

That surprises people who go to the Secretary of State first. The Secretary of State does take a few forms, and it keeps the business register. See the Oklahoma office guide for that side. This page is about the county clerk's UCC work.

Who is the Oklahoma UCC filing office?

The UCC Central Filing Office is housed in the County Clerk's office at the Oklahoma County Annex Building, 320 Robert S. Kerr Avenue, in Oklahoma City. The county describes it as a centralized and exclusive filing location for most UCC filings in Oklahoma.

Two exceptions matter. Transmitting utility forms and EFS forms are filed with the Secretary of State. Goods that become fixtures are filed where a mortgage on the real estate would be filed, though a consumer debtor or a farmer's collateral goes to the central office.

How to search Oklahoma UCC records

The county clerk gives online access to real estate and UCC records through OKCC.ONLINE. Choose the UCC search and enter the debtor. Our UCC search guide explains what a result tells you.

Read the clerk's warning before you rely on the result. The records are for information, they change often, and there can be a delay between a filing and its appearance online. The clerk points anyone who needs certainty to the actual records in the office.

A certified information request, called a UCC-11 or UCC-4, is the formal route. It costs $10 per debtor name searched.

How much does a UCC-1 cost in Oklahoma?

The filing fee is $10 for one to five pages, with $1 for each added page after the fifth. That covers a UCC-1 original financing statement and also UCC-3 filings: continuation, amendment, assignment and termination.

Checks for filing fees go to the Oklahoma County Clerk. The county's online document list includes an E-FILE UCC-1 type, so ask the office how to file electronically.

What a filing needs

For a UCC-1, the office checks four things.

  1. The proper filing fee.
  2. The debtor's complete name and address.
  3. The secured party's complete name and address.
  4. A page that is clearly legible and can be copied by the clerk's equipment.

The office accepts financing statements that substantially follow Oklahoma's Title 12A, Sections 1-9-501 through 1-9-527, and come with the right fee. For a UCC-3, the form must show the original file number and date. Our UCC-1 filing guide covers how to fill in the form.

An Oklahoma quirk

Do not send a UCC-1 to the Secretary of State. Unless it is a transmitting utility or an EFS form, it will not be the right office. Check the type of collateral first.

If you want help, you can ask our private filing service. State and county fees are separate, and you can file at the clerk yourself.
