A New Hampshire certificate of good standing comes from the Corporation Division of the Secretary of State. The New Hampshire office guide describes the office. You can order it online, by mail or in person, and the price depends on the route.
By mail or in the office the certificate costs $5. Our general certificate of good standing guide explains what the certificate is used for.
Short form and long form
The office offers both a short form and a long form, and you choose when you order in your QuickStart account. This guide does not list a separate price for the long form, since the page we read gives one figure of $5 for the mail order. Check the QuickStart order screen for the amount before you pay.
Three ways to order
QuickStart account. Log in and order a certificate of good standing. Both forms are available here. If you do not have an account yet, creating one is easy.
One Click Good Standing. If you do not want an account, this option orders a standard good standing certificate online.
By mail or in the office. The office has a page for ordering by mail or in person. You may order the certificate and have it mailed to you for $5.
Fees received electronically by the State of New Hampshire carry an additional $2.00 handling charge, so the online price will be a little higher than the mail price.
What is on the certificate
The certificate has a computer-generated black and white seal. It also carries a business ID number and a certificate number. Whoever receives it can check the authenticity on QuickStart, and the office has a page for verifying a certificate.
The business ID number, called the BIN, is the same as the charter number. You find it in the search results.
What can block good standing
The status list on the state's site includes Good Standing, Not in Good Standing and Administrative Dissolution. Not in Good Standing means an entity owes reports or fees, or its agent has resigned. The usual repair is to file the missing report and pay the fee. Our New Hampshire annual report guide covers the April 1 report and the $50 late fee.
If the registered agent has resigned, you need to appoint a new one. See our guide on how to change a registered agent.
After two consecutive years without filing, a domestic business is administratively dissolved. A foreign business is suspended once it misses the current year.
Watch for solicitation letters
The Secretary of State warns about solicitation letters from a Florida business that offers certificates. Those letters are not from the office and are not authorized by it. Order from the Corporation Division's own pages.
Our private filing service can order the certificate for you. State fees are separate, and you can order from the Secretary of State yourself.
